KITTANNING, PA, FEBRUARY 8, 2001 – SinterMet
LLC, a leading manufacturer of tungsten carbide rod mill rolls,
today announced it has received
a $171,000 contract with Hangzhou Steel in mainland China.
SinterMet will provide the tungsten carbide rod mill rolls for
the new steel mill, which will be operational in May. The mill will
produce coiled wire rod, in 5.5mm diameter to 32mm diameter. The mill
builder is Morgan Construction Co. of Worchester, Mass.
“Hangzhou Steel is a state-of-the-art
rolling mill and we at SinterMet fully expect the production and quality
of its wire rods to be of world-class
standards,” said Tom Gallagher, SinterMet’s vice president
of sales. “We are pleased that Hangzhou Steel chose SinterMet’s
rod mill rolls to be part of this quality manufacturing process.”
